TopicsEndoscopic and Microscopic Endonasal Approaches to the Sellar and
Parasellar Regions (suprasellar, planum, cavernous sinus, clival, retroclival)

Supra-orbital "Eyebrow" Craniotomy for Frontal Fossa and Parasellar Tumors

Retro-sigmoid Craniotomy for CP Angle and Petro-Clival Tumors

Decision Making in Keyhole Skull Base Surgery

Complication Avoidance and CSF Leak Repair Techniques for Endoscopic and
Microscopic Keyhole Approaches
Description This two-day CME course will consist of both didactic sessions and hands-on micro-dissection of fresh-frozen cadavers. Topics will include sinonasal anatomy and imaging, endonasal surgery to the parasellar area by the fully endoscopic approach, the direct microscopic approach and the endoscope-assisted approach. Related topics will include extended transsphenoidal approaches to the supra-sellar and frontal fossa regions, cavernous sinus and clivus. Two keyhole skull base approaches will also be presented: the supra-orbital "eyebrow" craniotomy for frontal fossa and parasellar lesions; and the retro-sigmoid approach for cerebello-pontine and petro-clival pathology. Additional topics will include instrumentation requirements, CSF leak repair techniques, complication avoidance and peri-operative hormonal and electrolyte management.
Objectives To gain experience with minimally invasive endonasal approaches to the
parasellar area (sella, suprasellar, planum, cavernous sinus & clivus) including microscopic, endoscopic and endoscope-assisted approaches.

To gain experience with the supra-orbital "eyebrow" keyhole approach to the frontal fossa and parasellar regions.

To gain experience with the retro-sigmoid keyhole approach to the cerebello-pontine angle and petro-clival region.

To learn methods for CSF leak repair in standard and extended transsphenoidal approaches and in keyhole craniotomies.

To learn methods of complication avoidance in standard and extended
transsphenoidal approaches and in keyhole craniotomies.
